Devens Financial Services

Don Devens, owner of Devens Financial Services, LLC in Seabrook, Texas, needed to a way for his clients to update and maintain their own personal accounts. In doing so, Don could then help his clients in the following ways:

  • Set personal financial goals
  • Monitor their progress and help them make timely adjustments
  • Get them actively involved in managing their financial future rather than take a passive approach

Using ColdFusion server language and a MySQL database, I set up a form-driven application within an SSL certificate-secure website application. Each client is given their own login username and password, and they can only see their own account information.

Here is a screen shot of the main menu of Account system that allows Don's clients to access different data areas to add, maintain, and delete their financial information:

From the information input by the client, Don is able to create reports and stay updated with his clients needs, strengthening his relationship with each client and giving them confidence to set goals and achieve them in a timely way.

Coronado Trails Cabin Reservation System

The Coronado Trail Cabins in scenic Alpine, Arizona needed to a way for web site visitors to make cabin reservations for their vacation stay. To help relieve the office staff of having to answer questions on cabin availability and the size and provisions of each of the six cabins, a website was created to provide the following:

  • Determine cabin availability for any month of the year by viewing a graphic calendar
  • Set pending reservations (approved manually by staff workers)
  • See photos and read information pertaining to each cabin

Using ColdFusion server language and a MySQL database, I set up a cabin reservation web site application to fulfill these goals.

First, a web site visitor would select a cabin. Then a check-in date would be selected from the calendar. Here is a screen shot of one of the cabins with the date of May 18 selected:

In addition to helping the visitors make a timely decision, the office staff is free from having to answer the phone for small questions that are easily answered by viewing the web site. In addition, the owner has a historical record of how often each cabin has been rented.

Asbury United Methodist Church

Office personnel at Asbury United Methodist Church needed to be able to update their church's website information on their own in a timely manner.

Using PHP scripting language and a MySQL database, easy-to-use forms were created to allow them to maintain:

  • church events
  • staff and leadership contact information
  • upcoming sermon series
  • monthly newsletters

Here is the main menu of their inter-office Content Management System that allows them to access different data areas to add, maintain, and delete their information for their public website:

As an example, here's how the office staff maintains an Event:

A dynamic monthly calendar was created to display events, allowing visitors to view events for the current month as well as past and future months. Also, by clicking on the event, the visitor can see full details of the event. Here is what the visitor sees on the Asbury website Events page:

Dates that have events scheduled are clearly marked with an colored background. And, if the visitor clicks on the Event, the details are displayed:
